Ramón Díaz emerges as candidate to coach Ecuador national football team

The Federación Ecuatoriana de Fútbol (FEF) is actively searching for a replacement for Sebastián Beccacece as head coach of the Ecuador national football team. Argentine manager Ramón Díaz, a former River Plate and Internacional coach, has reportedly offered his services through his representatives, setting him apart from other candidates who are being evaluated.

The federation aims to finalize the appointment within the coming weeks so the new coach can lead the team in the September friendly matches. Other names on the shortlist include Robert Moreno, Roberto Martínez, Marcelo Gallardo and Miguel Ángel Ramírez. Díaz last managed Internacional in November 2025 and is currently without a club.

If hired, Díaz would embark on a long‑term project with "La Tri," bringing his extensive South American coaching experience to Ecuador.
