Ramón Horacio Espeche, Catamarca football legend, dies at 70

Ramón Horacio Espeche, a prominent figure in Catamarca football, has passed away at the age of 70 following a long battle with diabetes. Known locally as ‘Diminuto’, Espeche was a celebrated striker who scored 100 goals in the local league.

Espeche began his professional career with Vélez Sarsfield, making his first-division debut in 1970 at age 15. Throughout his career, he played for several clubs including Policial, Villa Cubas, Juventud Unida, Sarmiento, and Unión, and represented the Catamarca selection in regional tournaments and the AFA Copa Bécar Varela.
