Ramo Isak calls for increased police helicopter capacity in Bosnia and Herzegovina
Federal Minister of Internal Affairs Ramo Isak has addressed the security situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, stating that while the current situation is satisfactory, recent incidents have caused public concern. Isak emphasized that police agencies at all levels, including the Federal Police Administration (FUP), cantonal police administrations, and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska, are operating as a single security apparatus with high levels of cooperation.
Regarding recent tensions, Isak noted that coordination between police bodies in the Federation remained intact despite incidents involving Republika Srpska police entering Federation territory. He praised the professionalism of the Central Bosnia Canton police in handling such situations.
To strengthen technical capacities, Isak expressed a desire to increase the number of police helicopters. He proposed that each of the ten cantons should have at least one helicopter, and that the FUP should possess at least two or three. He noted that funds have already been secured to return a previously non-functional FUP helicopter to service. These assets would be utilized for police operations, firefighting, search and rescue, and medical transport.
