Ramos Arizpe boosts security, economy and public transport under Mayor Tomás Gutiérrez

Mayor Tomás Gutiérrez Merino said the municipality’s peace results from an integrated strategy that combines public‑security measures, infrastructure upgrades and economic development. A 24‑hour Command and Control Center, increased patrols, modern police equipment and upgraded street lighting have been deployed to improve safety. The town, promoted as Coahuila’s industrial capital, has attracted more than $890 million in new investment this year, creating about 1,900 jobs and financing works such as the reconstruction of the Camino del Real del Valle road.

The municipal government is also modernising public transport. Old trucks that failed safety standards are being removed, while six newer units are being added to key routes. Pre‑payment systems, fare‑verification bars for students, seniors and people with disabilities, and stricter driver training and uniform rules are intended to raise service quality. Coordination with the state government will continue to address deficiencies on the inter‑municipal Ramos Arizpe‑Saltillo route.
