Ramos Arizpe Free Student Transport Boosts Local Economy

One year after its launch, the Ruta Estudiantil Gratuita in Ramos Arizpe, Coahuila, provides more than 60,000 free rides each month, covering around 40,000 kilometres. The program, promoted by Governor Manolo Jiménez Salinas and Mayor Tomás Gutiérrez Merino, connects students and workers to schools, workplaces and key municipal points.

Local business leaders praised the initiative for reducing household transport expenses and stimulating commercial activity. Isidoro García Reyes of Canirac highlighted its social value and economic support for families, while Arturo Reveles Márquez of Canacintra emphasized the link between mobility and municipal competitiveness. Mario Alejandro Aguirre Rangel of Canaco noted that the free service strengthens both student and worker mobility, contributing directly to the region’s economic dynamism.
