Ramos Arizpe mayor and CFE pledge faster power outage response

The municipal government of Ramos Arizpe met with the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) to improve local electricity service. Mayor Tomás Gutiérrez Merino and CFE superintendent Roberto Velázquez agreed to set up an immediate‑communication channel so outages can be addressed more quickly.

The agreements include expanding the electric grid in the Urbivilla colonia, extending the rural‑lighting program in ejidos, and modernising street lighting by replacing high‑consumption lamps with LED units. Officials noted that recent blackouts were driven by high temperatures and rising demand, and they also examined ways to protect the power supply for the municipality’s water‑pumping system.
