Mexico's DIF Provides Health and Social Support to Families
The municipal DIF offices in several Mexican towns have launched outreach programmes that bring medical care, legal aid and basic supplies directly to vulnerable residents.
In the OBR municipality, the DIF leadership shifted to Cuqui Montelongo Valencia following the interim mayoral change, ensuring continuity of services for children, seniors and people with disabilities.
A health‑service day in the Imala district of Culiacán delivered free medical, dental, nutrition and psychological consultations, handed out orthopaedic devices and more than 250 food parcels to families in need.
The DIF of Ramos Arizpe organized a community brigade in the Cerrito de la Cruz neighbourhood, providing medical attention, basic necessities such as diapers, sanitary towels, school supplies and medication, and assisting residents with administrative requests.
In Ciudad Madero, the “Gobierno en tu Colonia” initiative, backed by municipal and state officials, supplied roughly 1,000 families with food baskets, cleaning products, health services, vaccinations and legal assistance, reinforcing the municipality’s commitment to social welfare.
These actions illustrate the DIF’s role in delivering integrated support to disadvantaged communities across Mexico.
