Ramos Arizpe projects $1.4 billion investment and 7,000 new jobs

Ramos Arizpe, Coahuila, is experiencing significant economic and social shifts. Mayor Tomás Gutiérrez Merino announced that the municipality projects $1.4 billion in new business investments, which are expected to create approximately 7,000 new jobs across various sectors. The city currently hosts 15 industrial parks and accounts for roughly 12.5 percent of Coahuila's total employment.

In response to recent public health concerns, local authorities have conducted over 150 fumigation sessions to combat rickettsiosis following three reported deaths in the community. Additionally, the city is investing in social infrastructure by rehabilitating public plazas and sports areas in several neighborhoods to strengthen community ties.

However, rapid urban growth has led to a shortage of cemetery space. The San Nicolás cemetery has been at capacity for a decade, leading to a speculative resale market where 3x3 meter plots are being traded for between 120,000 and 150,000 pesos. Authorities are currently seeking long-term solutions to manage the increasing demand for burial plots.
