Ramos Arizpe implements health, demographic, and economic initiatives
Ramos Arizpe, Coahuila, is implementing various municipal initiatives covering public health, demographics, and economic support. To combat dengue, the municipal government and the Coahuila Ministry of Health have conducted thermonebulization (insecticide misting) in high-traffic areas, including the Municipal Gymnasium, to prevent mosquito proliferation.
Demographic data from INEGI indicates that Ramos Arizpe is among the Mexican cities with the highest proportion of foreign-born residents. Approximately 7.37% of its population moved from other states, driven largely by industrial growth in the automotive and manufacturing sectors. Additionally, 27% of the current population was born outside of Coahuila.
In terms of social and economic support, Mayor Tomás Gutiérrez Merino has distributed 160,000 pesos to local athletes and schools to facilitate participation in regional competitions. The municipality has also provided 40 tons of certified forage oat seed to local producers through a cost-sharing program with the state government to mitigate rising input costs. Furthermore, the city participated in the Paella Festival to promote its local tourism, gastronomy, and history.
