Ramos Mejía ice‑cream shop employee thwarts robbery, attacker arrested

A 51‑year‑old man entered the Perlatto ice‑cream shop on General San Martín Avenue 90 in Ramos Mejía, Buenos Aires Province, and assaulted a young employee while demanding the cash register money and her mobile phone. The employee shouted “¡Salí, soltame!” and fought back, knocking the attacker onto the counter. Neighbours and nearby merchants heard her cries, entered the shop and restrained the man, keeping him inside until police arrived.

Police later detained the suspect, who was taken to the La Matanza police station and placed under the jurisdiction of Unit 13 of the Functional Instruction Unit. The incident was captured on the shop’s security cameras, showing the struggle and the community’s intervention.
