Rampur Police Chief Anil Kumar Singh Sisodia Clarifies Cow Slaughter Remarks

Rampur superintendent of police Anil Kumar Singh Sisodia sparked controversy by stating that a “true Muslim” would not engage in cow slaughter, describing the act as haram and condemning those involved. He announced a verification drive to compile dossiers on individuals alleged to have participated in cow‑slaughter cases over the past decade.

Following public criticism, Sisodia issued a clarification, saying his comments were meant to promote communal harmony during the month of Shravan and had been misinterpreted. He cited statements from the Islamic seminary Darul Uloom Deoband that similarly deem such slaughter inappropriate, and emphasized his aim was to maintain social brotherhood and religious amity.
