Ramraj Cotton sets Asia Book of Records with 3,000-dhoti Pookkalam

Ramraj Cotton has set a new record in the Asia Book of Records by creating ‘Mundukalam’, the largest Pookkalam display made using dhotis. The installation, located at Forum Mall in Kochi, Kerala, features approximately 3,000 dhotis (mundus) meticulously arranged into a 30-foot diameter design.

The display reimagines the traditional Onam floral carpet, known as a Pookkalam, by replacing flower petals with various colored fabrics. The initiative aims to celebrate Kerala’s textile traditions and the cultural significance of the dhoti during the Onam festival. The record was officially recognized by an adjudicator from the Asia Book of Records during a presentation to the company’s leadership.
