Ramses Debruyne relies on intuition over data during races

Professional cyclist Ramses Debruyne, riding for Alpecin-Premier Tech, has revealed a non-traditional approach to racing by intentionally ignoring his power meter data during competitions. Despite having access to real-time metrics such as wattage, heart rate, and speed, Debruyne chooses to rely on his intuition and years of experience rather than digital displays to ensure data does not influence his natural racing instincts.

Following a strong sixth-place finish at the European Cycling Championships, analyst Jan Bakelants praised Debruyne’s performance, describing him as “exceptionally good.” Bakelants noted that the young Belgian shows significant potential for growth and suggested that his recent results confirm a major breakthrough. The upcoming Tour of Lombardy is viewed as a critical upcoming test for Debruyne to further validate his rising status in the professional peloton.
