Ramsharan Nautiyal joins Congress after leaving BJP

Ramsharan Nautiyal, father of singer Jubin Nautiyal and a former BJP leader, has officially joined the Congress party in New Delhi. His move follows his recent resignation from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), where he cited a lack of discipline, insufficient respect for party workers, and the alleged support of senior leaders for those violating organizational rules.

Nautiyal was welcomed at the Congress headquarters by senior leaders, including AICC General Secretary Kumari Selja and Uttarakhand Assembly Leader of the Opposition Yashpal Arya. Arya described the move as a ‘homecoming,’ noting Nautiyal’s previous experience as a District Panchayat President and his former roles within the State Congress Committee.

Nautiyal previously contested the 2022 Uttarakhand Assembly elections as a BJP candidate for the Chakrata constituency, where he was defeated by Congress leader Pritam Singh.
