Ramy Bensebaini suspended for two DFB-Pokal matches

Borussia Dortmund defender Ramy Bensebaini has received a two-match suspension for DFB-Pokal competitions. The DFB sports court issued the ruling following a red card he received in the final minute of the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup against FC Bayern München for “rough play.”

As a result of the disciplinary action, the Algerian player will miss Dortmund’s first-round DFB-Pokal match against fifth-division side HEBC Hamburg on Tuesday, as well as a potential second-round fixture in late October. Additionally, Bensebaini is dealing with a severe bruised rib sustained during the Supercup match, leaving his availability for the Bundesliga season opener against Hamburger SV uncertain.
