Chile's municipal schools launch enrollment campaign amid record PAES registrations in Valparaíso

The Municipality of Rancagua, through its municipal corporation (Cormun), began a school enrollment campaign promoting the 36 municipal schools in the city. The launch, held at Colegio España, highlighted each school's unique educational projects, extracurricular programs, and the municipal commitment to inclusive, quality education. Mayor Raimundo Agliati reaffirmed efforts to improve attendance, learning outcomes, and resource efficiency ahead of the Ministry of Education’s school admission system starting on August 4.

In the Valparaíso Region, 30,378 students registered for the PAES Regular 2026 exam, representing 10.1% of the national total of 300,678 registrants. Regional education official Juan Carlos Klenner and national officials Fernanda Valdés and Leonor Varas praised the strong interest and pledged continued support and information for applicants.

The Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile’s Villarrica campus and the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso, in partnership with Cpech, offered free PAES practice exams on August 1. UC Villarrica provided both in‑person and online sessions for reading and mathematics competencies, while PUCV hosted a similar free mock exam and a vocational guidance fair for students and parents.
