Ranchi Police encounter with interstate chain-snatching gang

Ranchi Police conducted an operation against an interstate chain-snatching gang near Chuttu village on the Ranchi-Ramgarh main road. During the encounter, the gang's leader, identified as Rangila, was shot in the leg in self-defense after allegedly firing rounds at the police and attempting to seize a service pistol.

Two other suspects, Aman Yadav and Kartik Yadav, were also apprehended. Authorities recovered more than 10 gold chains from the group. Preliminary investigations suggest the gang is connected to the notorious ‘Koda Gang’ based in the Katihar district of Bihar. The group is suspected of involvement in numerous robberies and chain-snatching incidents across Jharkhand and Bihar, including areas such as Dhanbad, Hazaribagh, and Ramgarh. Rangila reportedly has over 18 criminal cases filed against him in multiple jurisdictions.
