Jharkhand Student Protest in Ranchi Demands Clean JPSC and JSSC Exams

Since July 25, students from across Jharkhand have been holding an indefinite sit‑in at the Jaypal Singh Munda Stadium in Ranchi, demanding an end to alleged corruption in the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) examinations. The protest camp includes tents, sleeping platforms and a waterproof pavilion, with participants chanting the national anthem and displaying portraits of historic figures.

The demonstrators have called for the cancellation and re‑conduct of the 14th JPAAC exam, a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the alleged irregularities, and strict punitive action against officials they accuse of selling seats. On the night of the protest a youth identified as Hiralal from Latehar climbed a mobile‑tower at the venue, creating a six‑hour standoff before police safely brought him down and placed him in custody. The protest continues with candle marches and appeals for systemic reform.

The movement reflects broader frustration among middle‑class families in Jharkhand who view government jobs as increasingly unattainable due to perceived exam rigging.
