Ranchi water tank collapse kills two workers

A water tank slab collapsed near Marwari College in Ranchi, Jharkhand, on Wednesday evening, resulting in the deaths of at least two workers. The incident occurred between 5:30 pm and 6:00 pm while demolition and construction work was being carried out at the site.

Local authorities and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) conducted a rescue operation using JCB machines to clear the debris. Of the five workers present at the site during the collapse, three were rescued safely, while two bodies were recovered from beneath the rubble. The deceased have been handed over to the police.

BJP MLA CP Singh visited the scene and questioned whether safety standards were violated during the construction process. He called for the government to provide compensation to the families of the deceased and demanded that the contractor be held accountable. Local police are investigating the cause of the collapse.
