Randers Kommune reports declining 9th-grade exam results

Recent results from the Ministry of Education for the 2025-2026 school year show a decline in 9th-grade exam performance within Randers Kommune.

Key findings indicate a drop in the average grade for core subjects—Danish, mathematics, and natural sciences—falling from 6.9 to 6.6. Additionally, the percentage of students achieving at least a grade of 02 in Danish and mathematics decreased from 86.6% to 83.3%. There was also a reduction in the proportion of students completing all mandatory exams, dropping from 91.2% to 89.7%.

Kasper Fuhr Christensen, chairman of the Children and School Committee in Randers Kommune, described the situation as ‘very serious and deeply concerning.’ He stated that the municipality must engage in dialogue with schools, teachers, parents, and students to find a new way forward. The municipality is currently awaiting an analysis note from the school administration regarding these results.
