Randers Municipality selects team for Nordre Fælled bathing lake project
Randers Municipality has selected a consulting team led by Third Nature ApS to develop the upcoming 'Badesøen' (the Bathing Lake) at Nordre Fælled. The winning concept focuses on making nature accessible to all users, regardless of experience level.
Inspired by the Danish ice age landscape, the project will feature a moraine-style lake with a continuous, accessible path system around its perimeter. Planned amenities include a mountain bike track, community houses, gear banks, and an excursion island with diving opportunities. The design aims to provide year-round outdoor activities and relaxation.
The multidisciplinary team includes Third Nature ApS, MAST / Maritime Architecture Studio ApS, DMR A/S, AFRY ApS, Aiming Spaces, Cumpanis, and local figure Christian Degn. Degn, who was named 'Citizen of the Year in Randers' in 2025, will provide local expertise to ensure the project aligns with the needs of the community.
The project is supported by significant funding, including 37 million DKK from the A. P. Møller Foundation and 12 million DKK from the Local and Facilities Fund (Lokale og Anlægsfonden). Work to concretize the proposal is beginning, with an updated plan expected to be presented by Randers Municipality in early 2027.
