Randy Quaid criticizes Anne Hathaway's casting in 'Days of Thunder 2

Actor Randy Quaid has publicly criticized the casting of Anne Hathaway in the upcoming sequel to the 1990 film ‘Days of Thunder’. Following Paramount Pictures' announcement that Hathaway will star alongside Tom Cruise, Quaid used social media to demand the return of Nicole Kidman, who played the female lead in the original film.

Quaid, who played Tim Daland in the first movie, described Hathaway as a “leftist, woke, horrible choice” for the film’s NASCAR-focused audience. He also made personal remarks regarding Hathaway’s pregnancy, stating she is “not sexy” because of it. Quaid argued that bringing back Kidman would be the casting that would “sell the idea.”

While Hathaway is set to play a racecar owner and engineer, reports suggest Kidman has not officially declined an offer to reprise her role, though her schedule and creative priorities remain factors. The sequel, directed by Jonathan Levine, is scheduled for release in June 2028.
