Randy Villegas forms joint fundraising committee with socialist candidate William Lawrence

Democratic candidate Randy Villegas, running for California’s 22nd Congressional District against Republican Representative David Valadao, has formed a joint fundraising committee with Michigan congressional candidate William Lawrence. The new entity, named the Lawrence Villegas Victory Fund, formalizes ties between the two candidates.

Lawrence, a founder of a local chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), has publicly advocated for “winning full socialism in the United States” and the redistribution of land and wealth. His platform includes endorsements for defunding police, abolishing ICE, and removing enforcement limits at the border.

Villegas, who has received endorsements from Bernie Sanders and the California DSA, has faced scrutiny regarding his academic background and political stances. Critics have pointed to his past research and his campaign positions on immigration and social reform as evidence of his alignment with socialist ideologies.
