Rangers consider January sale of winger Ross McCausland

Rangers FC is considering a sale of Northern Ireland international Ross McCausland during the January transfer window to avoid losing him as a free agent when his contract expires in summer 2027. The 23-year-old winger has struggled to secure regular playing time under manager Derek McInnes, appearing only once this season after scoring in a Premier Sports Cup match against St Mirren.

Competition for wide positions has increased with the presence of Daisuke Yokota, Badredine Bouanani, and Djeidi Gassama. In a recent match against Hearts, McInnes opted to start Gassama over Bouanani, a decision that resulted in a draw. Bouanani later entered the game as a substitute and provided an assist to help secure the point.

While the club has a financial incentive to find a buyer, McCausland maintains the ability to reject a winter move and negotiate pre-contract agreements with overseas clubs starting in January.
