Rangers defender John Souttar remains at club after Aris transfer collapse
Rangers manager Derek McInnes faces a squad dilemma following the collapse of John Souttar’s proposed transfer to Greek side Aris. Although a three-year contract had been agreed upon, negotiations failed due to a dispute regarding an outstanding £430,000 contract value.
With the Greek transfer window closed, the Scottish defender remains at Ibrox. This situation follows previous indications from McInnes that Souttar was surplus to requirements, including his exclusion from the club’s pre-season training camp in Spain.
Supporters have expressed divided opinions on how to proceed. A majority of fans surveyed on TalkingPoints, approximately 67.69%, believe McInnes should reintegrate Souttar into the first team to address a lack of defensive depth. Conversely, 13.85% of voters suggest he should continue to be frozen out of the squad, while 18.46% have called for the club to terminate his contract entirely.
