Rangers FC faces injury crisis as squad depth reaches critical levels

Rangers manager Derek McInnes has warned that the club is ‘playing with fire’ due to a growing injury crisis that has severely depleted the squad.

Defensive options have been hit by a groin strain to Tuur Rommens, who is expected to be sidelined for four to six weeks. Additionally, Ben Godfrey remains unavailable. McInnes noted a specific lack of left-footed defenders in the current roster and indicated the club is actively targeting defensive recruits and wingers to address the shortage.

The injury list also extends to the attacking department. Striker Youssef Chermiti is facing an extended absence following an anterior cruciate ligament injury; the Portuguese forward is scheduled to see a specialist in London regarding potential surgery.

These setbacks come as Rangers prepare for a crucial UEFA Europa League qualifying match at Ibrox, where they must overturn a 2-1 first-leg deficit against Jagiellonia Bialystok.
