Rangers pursue Troyes defender Sankhoun Diawara

Scottish club Rangers have entered the race for 20‑year‑old French centre‑back Sankhoun Diawara, who is under contract with Ligue 1 side Troyes until 2027 but has indicated he will not extend his deal. Diawara, a former France U‑19 international, featured prominently in Troyes’ promotion campaign, playing 24 matches with a goal and an assist, and attracted interest from several clubs.

Rangers are monitoring the situation closely as Troyes may be forced to sell the defender before his contract expires. Swiss side FC Basel is also a leading contender, having made the signing a priority. The competition underscores the player’s growing reputation and the Light Blues’ intent to strengthen their squad under manager Derek McInnes.

If the transfer materialises, Diawara would move from French football to the Scottish Premiership, providing Rangers with a young, left‑footed defensive prospect while Troyes seek compensation before potentially losing him on a free transfer.
