Rangers show improved form under Derek McInnes

Rangers have seen a significant performance turnaround under manager Derek McInnes compared to the previous season. After reaching the 13-game mark in all competitions, McInnes has secured eight wins, representing a 61.5% win rate. This is a notable improvement over Russell Martin’s start last season, where the club managed only four wins in the same number of matches.

Defensively, the team has also improved, conceding only nine goals in their first 13 games this term, compared to 19 during the same period last year. This defensive stability has helped narrow the gap in the Scottish Premiership, with Celtic currently holding only a two-point lead over Rangers.

The momentum follows a period of volatility for both clubs. While Rangers recently secured a 3-0 victory over Celtic in the Premier Sports Cup, Celtic manager Martin O’Neill faces pressure following a 3-1 Europa League loss to Ferencvaros. McInnes has cautioned against complacency, noting that the team remains “one bad result away” from renewed scrutiny.
