Rangpur: Four family members found dead in locked house

Four members of a Hindu family were found dead in their locked residence in the Daspara area of Rangpur, Bangladesh. The victims have been identified as Ganapati Chakraborty, 65, a retired teacher; his wife Pritilata, 50; their daughter Agami, 23; and their 12-year-old son Priyam.

Police recovered the bodies late Saturday night after relatives raised concerns when the family's mobile phones went silent on Thursday. The remains were found in various locations: Ganapati was on the roof, the mother and daughter were on the staircase, and the son was found under a bed. Investigators suspect the victims were strangled.

Authorities have detained two cousins, Siddhartha Das, 19, and Mugdha Das, 23, in connection with the killings. Police Commissioner Mohammad Abdul Mabud stated that the suspects allegedly entered the rooftop of the house via a neighboring building to use the illegal synthetic drug yaba. The murders reportedly occurred after Ganapati Chakraborty confronted the men regarding their drug use. The suspects allegedly attempted to make the crime appear to be a robbery by scattering household items.
