Rangpur quadruple murder: Two suspects confess in court

Two youths, Siddhartha Das (23) and Mugdho Das (19), have confessed to the quadruple murder of a retired teacher and his family in the Machuapara area of Rangpur. Following their confession under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, a Rangpur Metropolitan Chief Magistrate's Court ordered them to be sent to Rangpur Central Jail.

The victims were identified as Ganapati Chakraborty (65), a retired teacher from Rangpur Zilla School, his wife Pritilata Chakraborty (50), their daughter Agami Chakraborty (23), and their son Priyam Chakraborty (12). Their bodies were discovered in their home on Saturday night.

According to investigators, the suspects were using a nearby construction site to consume drugs when they were confronted by Ganapati Chakraborty. The suspects allegedly strangled the teacher and his family members. To conceal the crime, the suspects reportedly ransacked the house, attempted to wipe fingerprints using detergent, and hid stolen jewelry behind a temple. Because the suspects provided a detailed confession, police did not seek remand for further interrogation.
