Rani Mukerji receives Raj Kapoor Special Contribution Award

Actress Rani Mukerji was honored with the Raj Kapoor Special Contribution Award at the 62nd Maharashtra State Film Awards held in Mumbai. The award was presented by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in the presence of Cultural Affairs Minister Ashish Shelar.

During the ceremony, Mukerji expressed her deep connection to Maharashtra and Mumbai, stating that the city provided her with her identity, career, and audience. She described the recognition as particularly meaningful because it was received from her own people and named after the legendary filmmaker Raj Kapoor.

Reflecting on her career, Mukerji noted that she views cinema as a deep emotion rather than just a profession. She emphasized her commitment to portraying resilient and truthful female characters who possess courage and refuse to be sidelined.
