Rania Kapeliari to hold ‘Mythologies of War’ exhibition in Nafplio

Artist Rania Kapeliari is launching a new thematic exhibition titled ‘Mythologies of War’ at the War Museum of Nafplio. Scheduled to run from October 16 to October 31, 2026, the exhibition serves as a commemorative event linked to the 1940 historical anniversaries.

The collection features two-dimensional works on canvas and paper, blending mythological references with the historical reality of the Peloponnese. The art explores the concept of the ‘hero’ by juxtaposing portraits of known fighters with romanticized depictions of the anonymous ‘pallikari’ and figures like Ellinopoulos.

To provide deeper context, the exhibition includes explanatory texts from historians detailing the historical significance of the depicted events and figures. The works aim to connect the viewer to the region's complex history, spanning from ancient mythology to modern struggles for independence.
