Tata Electronics limits system access after dark‑web leak of client files

Tata Electronics, a major Indian supplier to Apple, is investigating a leak of thousands of confidential client files that appeared on the dark web. The ransomware group World Leaks posted more than 200,000 files, allegedly containing component design papers from Apple and Tesla as well as documents from TSMC and Qualcomm. Tata has not confirmed operational impact but says a “cybersecurity incident” was identified.

In response, the company has hardened access to its sensitive internal tools, restricting remote access to a select group of employees across all facilities. It hired a global consultancy to conduct a forensic audit and has reported the breach to the Indian government and affected clients. Apple’s security team is working closely with Tata on short‑ and long‑term measures. A Tata source said, “Tata Electronics has hardened access to its sensitive internal systems,” and the investigation remains ongoing.
