Ranulph Fiennes: Concerns grow over isolation of world-renowned explorer
Concerns are mounting over the welfare and isolation of Sir Ranulph Fiennes, the 82-year-old explorer described by Guinness World Records as ‘the world’s greatest living explorer’. Friends and family have reported that Fiennes, who suffers from Parkinson’s disease, has been largely cut off from his social circle and loved ones.
Reports suggest that Fiennes has resided in various care homes under false identities. His wife, Louise Millington-Coates, who holds permanent power of attorney for his health and welfare, has been accused of isolating him and refusing to share information regarding his whereabouts. While some reports indicate he may be at his farmhouse in Shropshire, others note that communication remains nearly impossible, with even birthday cards being returned.
Members of the exploration community, including photographer Martin Hartley, have expressed profound sadness and fear that they may never see the explorer again. Despite the controversy, police have stated there has been no illegality in the actions taken by Millington-Coates.
