Ranveer Brar defends vegetarian menu served at BRICS Summit
Chef and actor Ranveer Brar has defended the decision to serve an exclusively vegetarian menu at the 18th BRICS Summit held in New Delhi. The choice drew criticism from some sectors of society who argued for a more diverse food selection.
Brar stated that the vegetarian menu was a strategic move to avoid international dietary controversies, noting that serving beef or pork can be sensitive in certain global contexts. He suggested that vegetarianism allows for a neutral ground that avoids such friction.
Additionally, Brar emphasized that the summit provided an opportunity to showcase India’s rich vegetarian culinary heritage to a global audience, especially as vegetarianism and veganism gain international prominence. He urged for a united front in presenting India’s culture to the world.
