Ranveer Singh rejects Rs 45 crore damages claim over Don 3 exit
A legal dispute between actor Ranveer Singh and Excel Entertainment over his exit from the film ‘Don 3’ has escalated. The production house, led by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani, has reportedly sought Rs 45 crore in damages following the actor's departure from the project.
Singh’s legal team has formally challenged the claim, asserting that there was no formal contract in place, only a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The dispute has reached the Indian Motion Picture Producers Association (IMPPA), but Singh’s representatives have urged the industry body to stay out of the matter, arguing that IMPPA lacks jurisdiction. They have warned that if the association attempts to pass a decision, the actor will pursue legal recourse through the courts.
On August 18, Singh’s father, Jagjit Singh Bhavnani, met with IMPPA officials to present the actor's side and submit relevant documentation. IMPPA President Abhay Sinha confirmed the meeting and stated that the association's legal team is currently reviewing the documents from both parties. No final decision has been reached, and the association plans to hold a press conference to provide further details on the matter.
