Actor Ranvir Shorey is facing social media backlash following a heated exchange on X (formerly Twitter) triggered by a viral Instagram reel. The video, which featured Shorey dancing with co-stars Anupam Kher, Boman Irani, and Parveen Dabas, garnered over 100 million views.

The controversy arose when Shorey responded to a mocking comment from an X user with a crude remark. Because the account used a female profile picture, users accused the actor of misogyny. Shorey defended his response, stating, "I reply to trolls in the language they speak in, and I will not be apologetic about it." He argued that the user's account was a known toxic entity and that gender should not excuse abusive language.

In a follow-up video, Shorey expressed frustration that the debate had become politicized, noting that the Prime Minister was even dragged into the controversy. He criticized media outlets for trivializing the exchange and asserted his right to respond to unreasonable abuse, stating, "It is my moral, ethical, and constitutional right to do this."
