Raoni Barcelos diagnosed with brain edema after UFC Vegas 121 collapse

Brazilian veteran fighter Raoni Barcelos has been diagnosed with brain edema following a traumatic brain injury sustained during his main event match at UFC Vegas 121. Barcelos faced Raul Rosas Jr. in a bout marked by a 19-year age gap. While Barcelos performed well through the first four rounds, he lost consciousness during a wall exchange in the fifth round.

Coach and former UFC light heavyweight champion Glover Teixeira reported that medical examinations confirmed the swelling. Teixeira suggested the loss of consciousness might have been a biological defense mechanism. Barcelos was discharged from the hospital after three days, but his team stated he must undergo extensive testing to determine the future of his professional career.
