Rapa Nui begins municipal machinery renewal plan
The municipality of Rapa Nui has launched a municipal machinery renewal plan following the arrival of a new dump truck and a high-tonnage excavator. These assets were acquired through projects presented to the Valparaíso Regional Government (GORE).
The renewal initiative aims to improve municipal services, including waste management, material storage, road repairs, and other infrastructure projects. The plan includes the upcoming arrival of two 4x4 pickup trucks, a backhoe, and two three-quarter trucks funded by GORE. Additionally, the municipality will soon receive four more machines funded by its own resources: a 10,000-liter water truck, a waste collection truck, a roller compactor, and a second dump truck.
Mayor Elizabeth Arévalo Pakarati noted that the previous fleet consisted of machines over two decades old that had exceeded their useful life. The arrival of the new equipment was marked by an ancestral blessing ceremony.
