Raphael Onyedika discusses fitness and Eintracht Frankfurt performance

Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Raphael Onyedika has played every available minute of the current competitive season, totaling 690 minutes. Following a 1-0 home victory against 1. FC Köln, the 25-year-old attributed his physical resilience to high-intensity training and experience playing multiple matches per week in previous seasons.

During the match against Köln, Onyedika noted he intentionally avoided a foul during a sprint against Said El Mala to prevent receiving a fourth yellow card and a subsequent suspension. He emphasized his role as a defensive midfielder focused on building connections with teammates like Mario Götze or Noel Aseko.

Onyedika also discussed his early return from Nigerian national team duty to allow for more collective preparation time with his club, a move facilitated by the Nigerian football association. He is currently preparing for an upcoming away fixture against Borussia Dortmund.
