Raphinha criticizes Atlético Madrid over Julián Álvarez transfer dispute

Barcelona player Raphinha has criticized Atlético Madrid for their handling of Julián Álvarez’s transfer situation. According to reports, Barcelona was prepared to offer over 100 million euros to sign the Argentine forward this summer, but Atlético rejected the bid.

Despite allegedly promising Álvarez he could leave if he wished, Atlético reportedly informed him he could join any club except Barcelona. This led to friction, with the player reportedly refusing to train at one point. Raphinha stated that it is difficult for a player to function effectively when they no longer feel comfortable or wish to remain at a club.

Additionally, Raphinha expressed his disagreement with the Ballon d'Or nominations, calling it ‘at the very least unfair’ that neither he nor Pedri were included in the top 30 nominees.
