Rapid Bucharest faces legal disputes over unpaid salaries and transfer fees
Rapid Bucharest is facing multiple legal and financial disputes involving unpaid debts to former staff and other football clubs. Former head coach Costel Gâlcă, along with his technical staff including Dumitru Uzunea, Ciprian Prună, and Marius Francisc, has filed a claim with the National Chamber for Dispute Resolution regarding unpaid salaries. Gâlcă is reportedly seeking approximately 60,000 euros for unpaid wages.
Rapid President Victor Angelescu addressed the litigation, stating that the club has “assumed” this situation and intends to settle the payments at the appropriate time.
Separately, Petrolul Ploiești is threatening to take its grievances to FIFA over an outstanding debt from Rapid Bucharest. Petrolul President Claudiu Tudor reported that Rapid has failed to pay 200,000 euros for the transfer of player Robert Sălceanu, a debt that has been outstanding for eight months. Petrolul, which is currently facing insolvency, indicated it will seek international intervention if the matter is not resolved domestically.
