Rapid Bucharest scores 60‑metre strike in friendly, then falls 1‑2 to Slovan Liberec

Romanian club Rapid Bucharest, coached by Daniel Pancu, wrapped up a summer training camp in Austria with a series of friendly matches. After a 3‑1 victory over Dinamo Kiev and a 0‑0 draw with Rapid Vienna, the team drew 1‑1 with FC Kosice when forward Vulturar netted a sensational goal from about 60 metres, described as a first of its kind at this level.

The final friendly ended in a 1‑2 defeat to Czech side Slovan Liberec. Rapid led 2‑0 at halftime, but a mishap in the 56th minute saw an own‑goal by the Czech side give Rapid a fleeting lead before Liberec recovered to win the match. Rapid will return to Romania to start the Superliga season on 20 July against Sepsi OSK.
