Rapid București defeats FC Voluntari 2-1 in SuperLiga
Rapid București secured a 2-1 victory against FC Voluntari in the ninth round of the SuperLiga, moving to second place in the standings, just two points behind leader Dinamo.
Despite the win, Rapid faced significant challenges. Voluntari took an early lead in the 12th minute through Mihai Roman II. Rapid equalized in the 58th minute following an own goal by Voluntari goalkeeper Metod Jurhar, triggered by a Mohammed Kamara header from an Olimpiu Moruțan cross. Lars Kramer secured the win with a header in the 86th minute after a Moruțan corner.
Following the match, coach Daniel Pancu and president Victor Angelescu expressed concerns regarding the team's lack of cohesion and inefficiency in front of goal, noting that the team creates many chances but struggles to finish. Additionally, club president Victor Angelescu confirmed that the club is in discussions to terminate the contract of goalkeeper Benjamin Siegrist, who will be allowed to leave once he finds a new club.
Looking ahead, Rapid is scheduled to play a friendly match against the Italian Serie A side Genoa during the upcoming international break.
