Rapid Wien secures 3‑1 win over FC Santa Coloma in Conference League qualifier
Rapid Wien opened their European campaign with a 3‑1 victory against FC Santa Coloma in Andorra, earning a comfortable two‑goal advantage for the second leg. Captain Matthias Seidl praised the performance, while coach Johannes Hoff Thorup noted the need for rapid improvement despite the win. A highlight was 19‑year‑old Moulaye Haidara, who scored his first professional goal to seal the result.
In the same qualifying round, fellow Austrian side Austria Wien defeated FK Liepaja 2‑0 in Latvia. Florian Wustinger, returning from a long injury spell, netted his debut goal for the club. Coach Stephan Helm called the win a "step in the right direction" and announced squad rotation ahead of the upcoming domestic fixtures.
Both clubs will now prepare for their return legs – Rapid will host Santa Coloma in Vienna, while Austria Wien faces the second leg against Liepaja before the Austrian Bundesliga opener. Rapid also has an Austrian Cup first‑round match against Wienerberg scheduled for the weekend.
