Rapino municipality plans humanitarian project for Ukrainian children
The municipality of Rapino, located in the Abruzzo region of Italy, is developing a humanitarian project to host approximately 15 Ukrainian children during the winter period. The initiative aims to provide a safe environment, access to local schooling, and a reprieve from the difficulties of war.
The project stems from international cooperation established during the Ukraine Recovery Conference 2026 in Gdansk, Poland. Through this conference, Rapino initiated institutional relationships with the Ukrainian communities of Sarny and Balakliia, leading to the signing of friendship pacts to foster collaboration in culture, education, and youth exchange.
To implement the program, the municipality is evaluating the use of municipal facilities and rental housing. The initiative is supported by the Associazione Gioia di Pescara and the Associazione Friends of Ukraine. An appeal for solidarity has been launched to raise 25,000 euros to fund the project.
