Lvbel C5 released under judicial control in Turkey

Turkish rapper Lvbel C5, whose real name is Süleyman Burak Bodur, has been released under judicial control following an investigation into the lyrics of his song ‘Kahpe’, performed with Asya Alizade. The investigation, launched by the Istanbul Anadolu Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, involved allegations of ‘publicly inciting crime’ based on complaints submitted via CİMER.

During his statement to prosecutors, Bodur denied the allegations, stating that the lyrics were products of his imagination and not intended to promote violence or specific intent. He noted that he had already removed the song from digital platforms after becoming aware of the complaints. He also claimed that some of the controversial lyrics belonged to his collaborator, Asya Alizade.

A criminal judge rejected the prosecution's request for his arrest, citing a lack of flight risk and determining that detention would be disproportionate. However, the court imposed several judicial control measures: a ban on traveling abroad, a requirement to report to a police station twice a week (Mondays and Wednesdays), and a unique mandate to continue his education in Turkish literature.
