Rappi and Bogotá Mayor's Office renovate Usaquén underpass
The Bogotá Mayor's Office and the delivery platform Rappi have completed the renovation of the underpass at Carrera 9 and Calle 109 in the Usaquén locality. The project, part of the ‘Puentes que Unen’ strategy, was entirely funded by a private investment of 1,533 million pesos from Rappi.
The intervention covered 903 square meters and took six months to complete. The transformed space now includes an 84-square-meter outdoor gym with six machines, public restrooms, urban furniture, and bicycle racks. To support delivery workers, a 30-square-meter ‘Pitstop’ was created, featuring electrical outlets and designated parking for 24 motorcycles and six bicycles.
To improve local security and address previous issues with theft and waste accumulation, the site is equipped with real-time video analysis cameras and a public address system for preventive alerts. The project aims to improve conditions for pedestrians, residents of the Santa Ana Occidental and Santa Bibiana neighborhoods, and the transient population in northern Bogotá.
