Rapture horror film starring Kit Connor and Will Poulter to begin filming in October
Production for the queer medieval body horror film ‘Rapture’ is reportedly scheduled to begin in October. The project, which stars Kit Connor, Will Poulter, and Manu Ríos, had previously faced delays after an initial 2025 start date was anticipated.
Set in Yorkshire in 1348, the story follows ten monks at the remote Lansley Abbey during the Black Death. The plot involves a mysterious illness that transforms victims into undead ‘revenants.’ As the plague approaches, the monks face internal conflict over whether to aid the sick or protect the monastery’s knowledge, leading to themes of betrayal and violence.
Writer and director Jordan Tannahill, making his feature directorial debut, has described the film as centering on a ‘deep, passionate relationship’ between two young monks. While the specific roles for the lead actors have not been confirmed, filming is expected to take place in Hungary. No official release date has been announced, though industry estimates suggest a 2027 debut at the earliest.
