Raquel Argandoña recounts pressure on daughter to end relationship over aesthetics

During an appearance on the television program ‘Tal Cual’, Chilean presenter Raquel Argandoña shared an anecdote regarding her daughter Kel Calderón’s 15th birthday celebration. Argandoña admitted to being ‘very bad’ during the event, which featured high-end decor, including rose petal pools and designer dresses.

Argandoña revealed that she pressured her daughter to end her relationship with her boyfriend at the time because his physical stature did not match the aesthetic of the party. Specifically, she noted that the young man was short and she feared that if Kel wore high heels, the height difference would make her daughter look small in photographs. Argandoña told her daughter, ‘It doesn’t match me because he is very short. I can’t lower you from your heels because you will look like a dwarf, so you are going to have to fight.’

The conflict led to a temporary breakup between the couple, though they eventually reconciled.
